Our keynote speaker at this event will be Shaniqua McClendon, political director of Crooked Media, home to the popular podcast, "Pod Save America." Originally from Creedmoor, she is a UNC grad. At Crooked Media, Shaniqua led the creation of midterm voter engagement program, Vote Save America, which supported 2018 Democratic victories throughout the country. Shaniqua began her career as a White House intern for President Barack Obama. On Capitol Hill, she served as a policy advisor to Senator Kay R. Hagan and legislative director to Congresswoman Alma S. Adams, where she spearheaded the creation of the first-ever Congressional Bipartisan HBCU Caucus. Shaniqua is also the force behind the "Crooked Mini" podcast "Rigging North Carolina," especially pertinent to FLIP NC's mission as her interviews unpack the GOP's recent efforts to subvert democracy in our state.

The launch party will include time to get a drink and mingle with other progressives before hearing from FLIP NC's leaders and Shaniqua. Following the main event, we’ll have "FLIP the Mic Karaoke Contest" for folks who want to stick around for more fun!
