Meet Virginia Cox-Daugherty!
Democratic Candidate for NC House District 12
(Pitt and Lenoir Counties)
Virginia Cox-Daugherty, a longtime educator, community leader, and resident of Lenoir County, is running to flip this district blue in November. Her top priorities are to increase teacher pay and public school funding; expand access to affordable health care; support local farmers; and defend welfare programs like Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security.
Every family wants to prepare their child for the future, and rural families are no different. Our students need an education that prepares them for the opportunities ahead.
-Virginia Cox-Daugherty, Democratic candidate for NC-H12
Flipping this seat is essential to shifting the balance of power in Raleigh so we can have a legislature that works for everyday North Carolinians by fully supporting public education, expanding Medicaid to reduce health care costs for everyone, and protecting our natural resources from greedy corporations.
About NC House District 12
This district has been redrawn since the last election, and Democrats now have a much better chance to flip this district blue. Hillary Clinton and Roy Cooper lost the newly created district by just 4-5 points in 2016, and the pool of registered voters who did not vote in 2018 leans Democratic by more than 20 points, putting victory for Democrats within reach with high enough turnout in 2020.
