Meet Dan Besse!

Democratic Candidate for NC House District 74 (Forsyth County)

Dan Besse is a Winston-Salem city council member, a North Carolina native, and a former legal aid attorney. He is running to flip this district blue in November. His top priorities are to increase access to high-quality public education, expand Medicaid and ensure high-quality and affordable health care for all, and provide good job opportunities for working families.

We need a new set of priorities working for us at the state level. North Carolina used to be known for taking a common-sense approach, and making progress together instead of dividing our people and dragging our state backwards.

Flipping this seat is essential to shifting the balance of power in Raleigh so we can have a legislature that works for everyday North Carolinians by fully supporting public education, expanding Medicaid to reduce health care costs for everyone, and protecting our natural resources from greedy corporations.

About NC House District 74

This district has been slowly trending blue over the past several election cycles. Previously gerrymandered by the NC GOP to be a safe Republican seat, the district was redrawn by court order after the 2018 elections and now leans right by just a few points, making it super competitive for 2020. Democratic primary turnout in Forsyth County increased 29% from 2016 to 2020 – a great sign of increasing Democratic enthusiasm in this area!
