Meet Aimy Steele!

Democratic Candidate for NC House District 82 (Cabarrus County)

Aimy Steele, a former elementary school principal and mother of five, is running to flip this district blue in November. Her top priorities are to increase education funding, offer free preschool for all children ages 3 and 4, ensure access to high-quality and affordable healthcare, and address the opioid crisis in Cabarrus County.

I am running to be in a constant state of advocacy for people, and making sure our collective voices are heard.

Flipping this seat is essential to shifting the balance of power in Raleigh so we can have a legislature that works for everyday North Carolinians by fully supporting public education, expanding Medicaid to reduce health care costs for everyone, and protecting our natural resources from greedy corporations.

About NC House District 82

This district has been trending increasingly blue over each of the past several election cycles. In 2018, Steele came within 6 points of upsetting the Republican incumbent, greatly improving on Gov. Cooper’s 2016 performance in a district drawn to favor Republicans. Since the 2018 elections, the district was redrawn by court order to remove the unfair advantage Republican lawmakers gave themselves in drawing the maps. The district is now 3 points more favorable for Democrats and is one of the most competitive in the state for 2020.
