-Gail Young, Democratic candidate for NC-H83
Flipping this seat is essential to shifting the balance of power in Raleigh so we can have a legislature that works for everyday North Carolinians by fully supporting public education, expanding Medicaid to reduce health care costs for everyone, and protecting our natural resources from greedy corporations.
About NC House District 83
This district has been trending increasingly blue over each of the past several election cycles. In 2018, Young came within 6 points of upsetting the Republican incumbent, greatly improving on Gov. Cooper’s 2016 performance in a district drawn to favor Republicans. Young faces off again in 2020 against Larry Pittman, one of the most extreme right-wing nuts in the NC GOP. Fortunately, Democratic enthusiasm in Cabarrus County is high – primary turnout among Democratic voters increased 32% from 2016 to 2020!
