FLIP NC has always focused on filling gaps in voter outreach and information – including early canvassing to connect with voters outside the traditional Get Out The Vote (GOTV) period. With campaign and party GOTV efforts now in full swing, we encourage you to join one of the following efforts.
Election-denying, voting-rights-trampling GOP extremists appear up and down the ballot in North Carolina. We need representatives who will fight for equal rights, good jobs, affordable health care, clean air and water, and a strong public education system – who look out for everyday North Carolinians and put people before corporations.
Democrats are running an especially impressive slate of statewide candidates this year, and we’re thrilled to cast our ballots for them!

Since 2012, Republicans in North Carolina have used extreme partisan gerrymandering to redraw election maps in ways that dilute the votes of Democratic voters for partisan gain. Our state courts once served as a backstop against the most extreme partisan gerrymandering, but following the far-right takeover last year, the Republican justices immediately recalled a case decided just 7 weeks before and ruled that Republicans could rig election districts however they want. To restore true democracy in North Carolina and get fair maps, we must take back our courts from far-right extremists.
Page retired in 2017 from a career as a legal educator at Meredith College and, more recently, at North Carolina Central School of Law. Never having been active politically in her life before, she realized in 2017 that she had been shirking her responsibility as a citizen. When not canvassing, she can most often be found exercising at the YMCA or working to transform her yard into a bird-friendly landscape. She lives in Durham with her egomaniac tuxedo cat, Carlito.

Democrats hold only 4 of the 15 Court of Appeals Seats in North Carolina. We have the opportunity to take back the N.C. Court of Appeals by 2028. Mike and his son Joaquin live in Cary. Mike is a preschool director/owner, and Joaquin is a junior at Enloe Magnet High School. Mike was active in local and national political campaigns in college and previously taught high school civics. They have enjoyed discussing politics since Joaquin was very young, and they decided this election would be a great opportunity for them to put that love for politics into action. Joaquin has canvassed three times with FLIP NC, and Mike has canvassed twice.

Lopa lives in Durham her husband, Neelesh, their 9- and 12-year-old kids, and their two rescue dogs. She works 150 hours a week as a personal assistant, driver, chef, therapist, life coach, maid, tutor, mind reader, and more. “Being a stay-at-home parent is seriously the hardest job ever,” she says. In what little free time she has, she also volunteers with FLIP NC. We are so glad she does!

In 2022, Republicans swept our statewide court races and now hold large majorities on both our State Supreme Court (5 of 7 seats) and Court of Appeals (11 of 15 seats). We cannot get fair maps and return the power to the people until we take back our state courts. We have a path to take back both the N.C. Supreme Court and the Court of Appeals by 2028 – before new maps are drawn for the next decade.
